Lester Don Holt Jr., professionally known as Lester Holt, is an American news anchor and editor who hosts the weekday editions of NBC Nightly News and NBC Nightly News Kids Edition. He worked for the CBS network as a news anchor from 1981 to 2000.

Lester Holt was born on 8 March 1959 in Hamilton Air Force Base, California, U.S., to June and Lester Don Holt. His maternal grandparents were of Jamaican descent, and his maternal grandfather was of Anglo-Indian descent. Lester Holt inherits a rich and versatile ethnicity such as Indian, Jamaican, African, Tennessee, and American.

Lester Holt is rooted in multiculturism although he practices Christianity, he is a member of the Manhattan Church of Christ in New York. He describes himself as a humble and loving Christian. His Norwegian-American wife "Carol Hagen" and his kids Stefan Holt and Cameron Holt also follow the Christian religion.
