Rutger Hauer was born in Breukelen, Netherlands in the Province of Utrecht, on 23 January 1944, while the Netherlands was under German occupation during World War II. Hauer died from pancreatic cancer on 19 July 2019 at his residence in the Netherlands, age 75.
