Create Bootable USB for Windows 10
Preparation
To complete the process of creating a bootable USB you need two things that are mentioned below.
- Windows 10 software setup
- USB drive (the USB storages size must be bigger than the windows 10 setup size)
Note: If your USB has any important data, kindly copy the data somewhere in your computer because in this process your USB is going to be formatted.
CMD Commands for Creating Bootable USB
To create a bootable USB, first, plug in the USB in your computer and then follow the below given step-by-step process to create a bootable USB.
Step 1:
Type CMD in your windows search bar and then right-click on Command Prompt app in the search results and then click on Run as administrator.
(The above process will open your computer's command prompt window (CMD). Now you have to type the below-given commands in this opened command prompt.)
Step 2:
Now in the command prompt type diskpart and hit enter button.
Step 3:
Type list disk in CMD and press enter.
This command will list all your storage drives with their size, see the below example
Step 4:
Type select disk X and press enter (replace X with a number then press enter, read the below note)
Note: see the above-listed Disk ( Disk 0, Disk 1, ...) recognize USB Disk with its size and this will be your disk X in command. In the below example, the right Disk is Disk 1 so the command is select disk 1
Step 5:
Type clean in CMD and press enter
Step 6:
Type create partition primary in CMD and press enter
Step 7:
Type select partition 1 in CMD and press enter
Step 8:
Type active in CMD and press enter
Step 9:
Type assign in CMD and Press enter
After pressing the enter button a popup will appear and it will ask to format disk, now click on the format disk button now again it will open a new popup, in this popup in the File system select NTFS and then press the start button. This will format your Pendrive (USB Drive). now again move to the command prompt (CMD) and follow the below steps.
Step 10:
Again type assign in CMD and press enter
This time it will open your file system, in this opened file system brows your windows 10 setup, now copy the complete windows 10 setup, and then paste it into Pendrive (USB drive).
Wait for the completion of the copying process, after the copy is complete now your Pendrive (USB drive) is bootable and ready for use.
